Most fans realise that Peartowers became outdated a long time ago and the content exists as an archive to what once was the best site around.

All of the items on this site were the self produce of Steven Hilton over many years. No fancy reusable JavaScript or PHP CMS systems copied from other sites, but an evolution over time enhanced by time at both Preston College and UCLAN.

Good evening,

Ashton Villa Return After 7 Year Absence

by Steven Hilton on Thursday 28th October 2010 - 08:00

Ashton Villa returned to action last night in a friendly against Jayesh Patel's 5-a-side team. The former Ashton star Patel was instrumental in the 15-11 defeat of a new look Villa team featuring the return of Seb Salisbury and Andy Leary. Seb managed to grab 7 goals whilst the ever present Steven Hilton broke his 2697 day scoring duck with 2 goals.

New players Kieron McLaughlin and John Walker boosted the ranks alongside loanee Brett Lund who scored 2. Another game is expected to be arranged for Thursday 4th November when new signing John Dempsey will hope to feature.

An Update ?

by Steven Hilton on Wednesday 13th October 2010 - 23:59

Steven Eccles died in June after crashing his motorbike down south somewhere. While grieving takes people different lengths of time, etc, I am not going to cut him out of the site. It will all remain the same.

  1. Most people know that Steven Eccles died in June and I never got round to sticking up anything about it on here.
  2. Paul Bradley (aka CT, aka Bradders) and myself still have our radio show on 103.2 Preston.FM every 4 weeks (next on Friday 22nd October 2-4pm).
  3. Steph stalks Facebook 24/7. Gotron disappears for long periods of time but is apparently still around.
  4. Ashton Villa are reforming for 2011.
  5. My new venture alongside PC Brigade is Pear Digital coming soon...

And finally to end on a positive, a very happy 27th birthday to King Lears.

Peartowers Returns

by Steven Hilton on Thursday 6th August 2009 - 14:25

Peartowers has returned to the internet after a 2 month absence. I messed up and thought that domain names were dropped instantly, but no, it takes this long to buy one again. The forum might not be quite back in order yet but its still better than the Facebook one nobody used. If you haven't heard the Last Orders has been renamed the Wheatsheaf but Bradders himself will still be hosting the quiz tonight.

If you are looking for our radio show then try Top Radio. Alternatively if you are looking for my local computing business try PC Brigade.

Preston.FM Disaster

by Steven Hilton on Monday 20th April 2009 - 15:38

Unfortunately, on Good Friday for an unknown reason Preston.FM went off air and so did the website. This meant that everyone tuning in to listen to our radio show didn't hear anything. Obviously we were very disappointed about this and will bring you the show in chunks via Peartowers.

Brunch With Bradders

by Steven Hilton on Wednesday 25th March 2009 - 20:16

This is the day that everyone has been waiting for, a day so epic it cannot be described except in these words. Steven Hilton and Paul Bradley have landed themselves a slot on Preston.FM starting on Good Friday 10th April 2009 at 10am for one hour. A demo of the show will hopefully be appearing here soon, but this will pale into insignificance compared to what is planned. Listen out on 103.2 Preston FM, a reminder will be issued for the show closer to air date.

Pearcast

by Steven Hilton on Monday 16th February 2009 - 15:15

Ashton On Line enters a new medium today as for the first time ever a Pearcast is available to download. The Pearcast is the first few minutes of the Andrew and Pear show which was broadcast live on Preston.FM last week. Not only does this feature myself but also the great humour provided by radioland legend Andrew Leary.

Andrew and Pear The Morning After The Night Before

by Steven Hilton on Friday 7th February 2009 - 15:02

Andrew and Pear had a succesful radio show last night. It was something quite special and has received rave reviews. Starting with Pear threatening the whole of Preston with Miley Cyrus if he and Andrew didn't get 20 messages, it was a rollercoster of fun. Andrew told some horrible pear jokes that only he managed to laugh at. "What is green and pear shaped? A pear."
Andrew also read the Around the World in 80 seconds section for the first time ever including a story about a goat being blamed for a crime. Meanwhile Pear was keeping on top of things declaring he had seen live in the flesh almost every band featured on the show. The duo also managed to play plenty of requests including those of long time Peartowers fan Steph Sergeant.

The Andrew and Pear show is repeated on Monday from 10am to 12pm on 103.2 Preston FM.

Andrew and Pear's Thursday Radio Show

by Steven Hilton on Friday 30th January 2009 - 15:02

Due to Dave Whillis going off on a skiing holiday, Pear has been drafted in to fill the void on the Andrew and Dave show. From 5pm on Thursday and for one night only it will be Andrew and Pear on the radio for two hours via your local station 103.2 Preston.fm. You can listen via your radio on 103.2 FM or via the Preston.FM live stream using the internet.
Please send your messages to 60300 starting with the word Preston or email the studio.
If you don't want your messages read out but want to give us a few hints of how to improve the show then send me a personal email or text to my phone. We will accept requests as long as we have the CD's to play it, like Steph's request for "Girl from Mars" last week. If you really want a song played then tell me before Thursday so I can make sure we have it prepared. Stay pressed on !!!

Pear on the Radio

by Steven Hilton on Friday 23rd January 2009 - 17:31

I'm sure your sick of me talking about Andrew and Dave's radio show, well I will mention it again. I aka Pear aka Steven Hilton managed to sneak a guest appearance on the show yesterday due to Kwik Fit not being Kwik enough. So while I was stranded in UCLAN library I got a message from Andy Leary saying his show was live from 5pm. I knew my car wasn't going to be ready so the only way I would be able to listen to the show wasl if I went in to the studio. To cut a very long story (that I can't remember) short, I managed to stay for an hour and plug my site over the airwaves it worked out well for all parties. Steph Sergeant sent me a text and managed to get "Girl from Mars" by Ash played at request despite the fact they play it every show. It was a very enjoyable experience but I think I prefer making websites as it takes a bit more skill. No offence guys.

Steph vs Youde

by Steven Hilton on Wednesday 14th January 2009 - 17:20

Steph Sergeant is having a good week. Why you ask ?
Steph was possibly one of the first people in the world to see the new Roy Walker and Rolf Harris churchill adverts. To top that she bumped in quiz master Paul Bradley in the Last Orders on Friday, despite vowing never to return to the pub. Then on Tuesday when she was in St. Catherines Bookshop Kenny Youde told her to get out of his way, but he did it politely by saying "Excuse me ".

Happy New Pear

by Steven Hilton on Tuesday 6th January 2009 - 20:20

Greetings all. Welcome to 2009 and welcome back to Peartowers. That's it really apart from saying I met Amir Hussain in the UCLAN library. I will also give you a reminder to listen to Andrew and Dave's Radio Show on 103.2 Preston.FM this Thursday for their first show of the year.

Merry Christmas From Peartowers

Steven Hilton and all of the Peartowers Forums members wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (Lear !). Please keep visiting our site into the new year to find out how well Andrew and Dave do with their radio show, or maybe just visit their site. Peartowers Has A Page Rank

by Pear on Wednesday 17th December 20:35

After an epic struggle against man and machine Steven Hilton has managed to get Peartowers a page rank of 2 on Google. This is quite momentous news considering my future plans, more momentous because Peartowers has never had a page rank of 1.

This had led to Peartowers value soaring on Website Outlook. My site is worth £761.11.

by Pear on Thursday 11th December 14:22

Andrew Leary and his friend Dave Whillis, not only share a radio show, they now share a website. To visit there new site that went live today visit http://www.andrewanddave.co.uk. I'm sure it will become the next big thing in Preston given that I am overseeing the project as I look to expand my empire. Also, don't forget to tune into Andrew and Dave's radio show this evening from 5 to 7pm.

Listen live via the internet by clicking on the Preston.fm Live Stream or tune your radio to 103.2fm from anywhere in Preston.

Martin Crawley Spy Photo 2

by Pear on Wednesday 10th December 09:11

Martin Crawley from the Ashton High School class of 2000 was spotted in the Trafford Centre on Sunday. This super spy photo taken by Catherine McCann in HMV shows Martin stuck in a festive queue trying to buy a DVD or something. As you may be able to see, he now has a bit of his hair dyed red and wears glasses. Is he turning into Adam Stirland ? only time will tell.

Note: Martin Crawley spy photo 1 was taken at Burger King. I'm unsure as to whether it made it on to the internet.

The King Meets The Stars

by Pear on Monday 8th December 18:25

Andy Leary today served not only Roy Walker of Catchphrase fame, but also football pundit Alan Hansen at the train station. Unfortunately neither will be appearing on Andrew and Dave's Thursday radio show on Preston.fm at 5pm on 11th December.

King Lears Christmas Countdown

by Pear on Wednesday 26th November 00:25

King Lears radio show on Preston.fm will broadcast on Christmas day. Thats just 4 weeks away so make sure you tune in. But before that you still have plenty of chances to listen to the King as he is on the radio this Thursday (27th) between 5pm and 7pm so tune in.

Free Quiz Sheet by Catherine McCann

by Pear on Monday 24th November 21:50

Catherine McCann has provided the Word document that is used to create the quiz sheet for the Last Orders pub quiz on Thursday. So if you want to go prepared (and cheat) then download and print the sheet.

Steven Hilton, Following Jesus (Army Bus)

by Pear on Friday 21st November 19:00

Steven Hilton was travelling down the M55 on his way home from work today when he spied a super vehicle overtaking him, the Jesus Army Bus. Hilton followed the bus down the motorway for a while as it maintained a steady speed of 65MPH before suddenly it shot off and disappeared into the Lancashire night. The registration plate was an unseen one for the Jesus Army although it may be the bus that parks just off Deepdale Road.

Thursday the 13th - Good For King Lears

by Pear on Wednesday 12th November 21:33

It's hard enough to believe that we are in November of this year, nevermind its now 2008 and most of the people I went to school with, like King Lears, are turning 25. The King is once again on the radio this Thursday from 5-7pm, don't worry if you missed him last week because he wasn't on.

You can listen live over the internet via the Preston.fm Live Stream or you can tune your radio to 103.2fm anywhere in Preston.

Return of the King

by Pear on Friday 17th October 19:28

King Lears returned from his holiday in Portugal just in time for his radio show on Preston FM. The King could have missed his show if his plane had been delayed but he made it back to the studio before 5pm. Steven Hilton took great delight in listening via the internet at work and also once he got home. He could pick up a signal in Blackpool via the car radio but there was quite a lot of interference, however once past Kirkham the interference cleared up. Overall I would rate it a C+, OK, not great. As a result, I will listen again next time
